Fans of Deborah Harkness’s bestselling All Souls trilogy, rejoice – the books have been adapted into a thrilling new TV drama airing this autumn. What's more, you can watch the whole first episode for free right now on radiotimes.com.

Modern-day love story A Discovery of Witches will transport you to a world where a handful of witches, vampires and demons secretly live and work alongside humans, hidden in plain sight and fearing persecution.

The Sky original production stars Teresa Palmer (Hacksaw Ridge) as brilliant academic and historian Diana Bishop, a reluctant witch denying her supernatural heritage – until she uncovers an ancient manuscript in the University of Oxford’s renowned Bodleian library. The discovery throws her into the heart of a dangerous mystery and the path of enigmatic geneticist and vampire Matthew Clairmont (played by Matthew Goode of Downton Abbey and The Crown), who is harbouring a dark family secret.

A forbidden relationship between the pair ensues, which violates ancient taboos and crosses a longstanding line between witches and vampires. As they grow closer, they embark on an enthralling journey to get to the bottom of the secrets that lie within the ancient manuscript.

A series of dramatic turns, however, threatens to destroy the fragile peace that has long existed between witches, vampires, demons and humans. This peace is overseen by the Congregation, an ancient institution made up of a selection of powerful figures from this community of extraordinary creatures.

Diana’s aunt, practising witch and coven member Sarah Bishop, is played by Alex Kingston (Doctor Who), while Owen Teale (Game of Thrones) stars as Peter Knox, a powerful witch and leading member of the Congregation, and Louise Brealey (Sherlock) plays Gillian Chamberlain, also a witch and one of Diana’s colleagues at Oxford.

A Discovery of Witches has been adapted for the screen by writer Kate Brooke (Bancroft). You can watch the first episode here, and all other episodes will be available to watch on Sky One this autumn. Prepare to get hooked…
