The ultimate Alpine challenge

The Swiss Epic race is the supreme test for any mountain biker, with ribbons of rugged trails cutting through Graubünden’s grand landscape

Written by Laura Mullan

The Swiss Epic has everything you could want from a race – high-altitude climbs, epic rocky descents and majestic scenery. What’s more, each year there’s a fresh trail to keep you challenged and get your heart pumping, and you can expect nothing less from 2020’s race.

Across five days, you’ll speed through the pine-edged trails of Laax and the craggy mountains of Arosa, before finally reaching Davos’ dramatic alpine passes. A demanding yet rewarding race, it will test your endurance, resolve and biking skills. And, while the 12,000m climb may get tough, the staggering beauty of Switzerland’s jagged, snow-capped peaks will be the perfect antidote to help you get through.

Sign up by 31 March 2020 and you’ll get your ticket at a lower price, saving CHF 100 (£77) per rider*.

Your adventure
starts here

The Swiss Epic is more than just a mountain bike race – the fact you race in teams of two makes it all the more special and memorable. Being at the starting line with your club mate and achieving something this extraordinary together is an amazing and rewarding feeling.

It could be just the first chapter of your adventure together, too. As a Swiss Epic entrant, you have the unique opportunity of also qualifying for the Absa Cape Epic, an incredible 650km race in South Africa’s Western Cape. There are 15 slots up for grabs: 10 guaranteed entries to the highest-ranked teams and five entries that will be drawn at the Swiss Epic awards. To be in with a chance of qualifying, you simply need to register your interest when applying for the Swiss Epic.

Along with the Pioneer race in New Zealand, these events form the worldwide Epic Series – one of the most esteemed multi-stage races in the world. If you complete all three, you and your teammate will even be awarded the coveted Epic Legend medal.

The Swiss Epic kicks off on 18 August 2020, and once you arrive you won’t have to worry about any admin. This means you don’t have to stress about the nuts and bolts of your trip. All you have to do is ride.
