Whether you’re a thrill-seeker at heart or simply love exploring nature at its most beautiful and untamed, this part of the Caribbean has everything that once-in-a-lifetime trips are made of.

To transport your imagination to the tropical climes of Tobago, here’s a round-up of just some of what the island has to offer.

Wildlife in Tobago

A popular bird-watching destination, Tobago is famed for its population of feathered creatures. High on the must-see list are the white-tailed sabrewing hummingbird, Trinidad motmot, rufous-tailed jacamar and rufous-vented chachalaca (Tobago’s national bird, also known as the cocrico).

You’ll find many of these in the peaceful wilderness of the Adventure Eco Farm and Nature Reserve. At the Corbin Local Wildlife Park, meanwhile, you can observe local animals in 20 acres of beautiful untouched forest.

Of course, no Caribbean island is complete without vibrant coral reefs decorated by colourful marine life, of which you’ll find plenty in Tobago’s dazzling waters.

Activities in Tobago

There’s certainly no shortage of things to see and do here. In fact, the hardest part of your trip will be choosing what to include on your itinerary. Go deep-sea diving among the fishes or try your hand at water sports on one of the many gorgeous beaches.

The mountainous Main Ridge Forest Reserve is a hiker’s paradise, while the awe-inspiring Argyle, Parlatuvier and Highlands Waterfalls are perfect for a refreshing cool-down. An absolute must during your time in Tobago is the one-of-a-kind bioluminescence tour – paddle-boarding at night among glow-in-the-dark plankton.

You won’t find many places more welcoming or accommodating than Tobago. Lodging options across the island range from luxurious villas and quaint bed and breakfasts to family-friendly resorts and self-catering apartments, with something to suit every need and budget.

Even better, you’ll be looked after by locals renowned for their incredible kindness and hospitality. Wherever your travels take you in Tobago, you can be sure to experience the Caribbean’s culture and natural beauty at their very best.
