Get your Christmas off to a flying start with a visit to your local Dobbies Garden Centre. And, should you need any further encouragement to get into the Christmas spirit, there are magical events and seasonal food delights for you to enjoy while you’re there.
Make it a green Christmas
Dobbies knows and loves Christmas trees, foliage and house plants. That’s why its horticultural team selects only the best quality, sustainable Christmas trees across the UK. Available in a range of sizes and varieties – there are traditional choices like Nordmann fir or even the more unusual Picea super blue – so you’re sure to find the right one for you.
House plants can also bring an instant festive feel to your home and can make for a long-lasting present that’s ideal for gifting when visiting loved ones. Dobbies’ extensive house plant selection includes Christmas favourites such as Poinsettia and Anthurium, as well as festive table decorations and mini Christmas tree alternatives.
Outside, a real wreath will add a truly festive touch to your front door. And if you’d like to add interest to your garden at this time of the year, the plant team at Dobbies recommends a Hellebore ‘Christmas Carol’. Also known as the Christmas rose, its crisp white cup-shaped flowers set against glossy dark foliage, will provide a lovely focal point well beyond the festive season.
Did you know?
A key trend this year is home scent scaping, where you curate the aroma of each room in your home. Why not create a scented tree to bring a little of the outdoors into your home this festive season? You could add fresh and dried florals and foliage, such as Lavender and Eucalyptus, to a real Fraser fir Christmas tree. Simply place posies in between the branches and secure them with twine hidden deeper in the tree. It will bring an incredible smell to your home and really elevate your tree.
Deck the halls and wrap up your presents
Dobbies’ expert team has all your decorating needs covered too, with four inspiring themes for 2023. For a traditional Christmas with a fun twist, there’s the Christmas Wonder range, while Classic Luxe is an elegant celebration of luxurious cherry reds and antique golds. Cosy Christmas is a natural blend of the beautiful outdoors and winter interiors, and Mystical Winter evokes atmospheric frosted landscapes with cool icy tones. The possibilities are endless!
When it comes to the tree, if you prefer the convenience of an artificial one, you’ll discover eight different collections with shapes, sizes and looks to suit every style and price point.
You can tick your gift shopping off the list at Dobbies as well, with all kinds of presents on offer for your nearest and dearest. As you’d expect, there’s a wide selection of gifts for both indoor and outdoor plant lovers, so you can spoil the green fingered people in your life. From tools, gardening gloves and hydroponics, to terrarium kits, wildflower gift sets and stylish home accessories, there’s something for all budgets and green spaces.

Make your own chandelier wreath
Have a go at getting crafty this Christmas by making a spectacular foliage chandelier. It’s easy to make – all you need is some foliage from your garden, a base, ribbon, string, twine and any decorations you’d like to add to your display.
1. Decide where you’ll hang your chandelier, as this will inform the size of its base. Any circular structure will work – you could buy a wreath frame or even repurpose a hula hoop. Take two 1m lengths of ribbon and knot each end to the frame, at four equally spaced points, for hanging later. Then wrap the string round the base, fully covering it.
2. Layer each variety of foliage one at a time on the base, repeating all the way around. Wind the twine around each stem so it’s tightly secured. Ensure there are no gaps, overlapping the stems for maximum impact. Then attach any extra decorations you like, such as baubles or fairy lights.
3. To hang the chandelier, take the ribbon and secure it to a cup hook on the ceiling. Allow your foliage to dry out beautifully over the festive period.
