  •   A Brother ScanNCut SDX machine - available from Create and Craft or Makerssuperstore.com
  •   Gold metallic, green, yellow, lilac, dark pink, mid pink, pale grey, orange and blue card
  •   Distress Inks
  •   Clear sparkle pen
  •   Adhesive pearls or gems
  •   Large sheer ribbon
  •   Glue gun or clear drying glue
  •   Tissue paper

01.  Scan the templates into your ScanNCut machine and cut as follows:

• Centre large flowers: 1 large 5-petal flower in dark pink, 1 medium 5-petal flower in mid pink, 1 small 5-petal flower in light pink, 1 large and 1 medium fringed flower in yellow.

• Side flowers: 2 large and 2 medium 7-point flowers in lilac, 2 small 7-point flowers in pink and 2 medium fringed flowers in yellow.

• Extra flowers: use different coloured card to layer up extra flowers using the smaller flower shapes.

• Foliage: 4 large leafy stems in green and 4 large berry sprigs in light grey. Flip to create 2 left-hand and 2 right-hand versions of each.

• Extra foliage: use a different shade of green to cut as many large and small single leaf shapes as desired.

02.  Use Distress Inks around the edges of the petals and leaves for extra definition.

03.  Shape the petals and layer them up, using a glue gun or clear drying glue. Start with the 2 large 7-point flowers, overlapping 1 petal at the cut mark so it creates a 6-point flower. Do this for all 3 pieces and stack them up using the glue gun. Glue a selection of smaller flowers before applying a clear sparkle pen to the centres of all the flowers.

04.  To create the headband section, cut 2 strips of gold metallic card. If using A4 card, just cut 2 strips vertically. Overlap and join the card using a strong clear drying glue, so the head piece measures the size desired. The one pictured is 54cm long.

05.  Measure the centre point on the headpiece and mark it with a dot. Attach the largest layered flower to the mark using a glue gun, then attach a large leafy stem to either side. Attach the other leafy stems so the edges lie just before the end of the headband.

06.  Add the berry sprigs to the top of the flower, gluing the ends under the main flower petals and arranging them symmetrically. Fill in the rest of the headband using the smaller layered flowers and leaf shapes as desired. Keep the headband balanced and symmetrical by attaching the flowers and leaves in the same arrangement on each side.

07.  Add any extra sparkle pen details to the flower centres, sprigs and leaves and glue an adhesive pearl or gem to the centre of each flower. It is best to use a strong glue for the gems so they will adhere to the card securely.

08.  Pierce a hole in each side of the headband, approximately 2.5cm from the ends. Thread with a large sheer ribbon and tie into a bow leaving the ends to hang down. The ribbon can be used to adjust the size of the headband as required.

Top tips

To create a left or right version of a shape, simply duplicate the image and select the ‘flip’ option on the ScanNCut edit menu.

If resizing a project, don’t forget to select all your items and ‘group’ them together first so they all resize at the same time.

Do a test cut first to check the blade is cutting through the card. Don’t panic if the pieces haven’t cut properly – simply press ‘cut’ again on your machine and it will cut in the same place. It’s better to cut twice rather than increase the blade when cutting textured or coated cardstocks as it gives a cleaner cut.
