• 1 tbsp mixed herbs
• 2 tsp demerara sugar
• 2 tsp paprika
• 1 tsp garlic salt
• 1 tsp onion salt
• 1 tsp salt
• 1 tsp ground black pepper
• 2.2kg whole chicken
Step 1
In a small bowl, mix the herbs, sugar, paprika, garlic salt, onion salt, salt and pepper together. Use to season the chicken liberally, making sure to rub it into every crevice.
Step 2
To install the Ninja Woodfire grill plate position it flat on top of the heating element, then gently press down until it sits in place. Place the chicken on the grill plate, then close the lid.
Step 3
While holding the smoke box lid open, use the pellet scoop to pour pellets into the smoke box until filled to the top, then close the lid. Turn the dial to SMOKER and set the temperature to 190°C and the time for 1 hr. Select START/STOP to begin cooking. (Preheating isn’t needed). When 15 mins remain, begin to check if the chicken is cooked.
Step 4
Cooking is complete when the chicken reads 74°C on an instant-read thermometer. Leave the lid closed and leave the chicken to rest for 15-30 mins. Alternatively, remove the chicken from grill, cover it in foil and leave to rest for 15-30 mins. Once rested, serve.
