What is a Microsite?

A Microsite is a multi-paged standalone website. It can either appear on a bespoke purchased URL (i.e. https://www.legoilovecars.co.uk/) or the advertorial.immediate URL used for Enhanced Advertorials. Additionally, BBC Good Food Microsites can be made to appear on the brand site domain (bbcgoodfood.com/microsite-name), despite being hosted separately and not utilising the same appearance or navigation etc (i.e. https://www.bbcgoodfood.com/droetker/).

Facts

  • Microsites are responsive and should have a separate design / layout for mobile

  • All microsites share the same header bar at the top, which clearly states the immediate/bbc brand and the advertisers logo together with the text ‘Advertisement feature’. This header also includes page sharing links to email, Facebook and Twitter.

  • All microsites have the same tracking setup through GA as standard, see this document for more details. Additional tracking is possible, but needs agreeing before it is built.

  • Microsites are normally sold in bursts, with the content being added to / refreshed every few weeks / months
